HealthLINE Announces Librarian of the Year

02/22/2016 9:38 AM | Jane Scott (Administrator)

HealthLINE is excited to announce that Mary Peters from Texas Scottish Rite Hospital for Children has been named HealthLINE Librarian of the Year for 2015.

The LOTY Award is the highest honor HealthLINE can bestow on a member.  The purpose of this award is to recognize the contributions of a member of HealthLINE who has demonstrated significant accomplishments in medical librarianship.  Special consideration is given to accomplishments either in the recipient’s home library or that directly benefit HealthLINE and its members.

Mary Peters was nominated by three different members this year and each described her dedication to HealthLINE and her work.  A co-worker describes Mary as the “consummate professional” and said that other staff members have commented on her kindness, attention to detail, and thoughtfulness.  During inclement weather, Mary often spends the night at the hospital in order to keep the library and family resource center open.  She is involved in SCC/MLA and MLA in addition to her years of service to HealthLINE.  Mary has been a member of HealthLINE since the first meeting in 1989 and served our organization as Secretary twice, Treasurer twice, and Chair three times. She has also served on and/or chaired at least six committees.

Mary is truly a source of encouragement and supportive mentor to new HealthLINE members.  Please join me in congratulating Mary on being named our Librarian of the Year!
